The Character of a Man
By Mack Thomas
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living or what you own.
I want to know do you possess a gut-wrenching desire for a dream(s) or goals.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are, I want to
know if you will risk looking like a fool for your dreams and for the
adventure of being alive.
I don’t need to know how hard you’ve worked all your life for peanuts, I want to know did you learn how to make peanut butter?
It doesn’t matter how many friends and family made near-successful attempts to talk you out of your dreams, I want to know that you acquired the skill of selective deafness.
I don’t want to know how many times you filed bankruptcy, I want know that you will not quit banking on your dreams.
I don’t want to know how many failed marriages you’ve had, I want to know did you leave your spouse in a “sunny” disposition.
It doesn’t interest me who you know.
I want to know how well you know yourself and what sustains you from the inside when all else is diminished to a quagmire of disgust and frustration.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and
if you truly like the company you keep in those empty moments.
Man don’t make perfection, GOD didn’t make a mistake, you are here for a purpose that only you can undertake.
